This tour starts early from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai and returns to Chiang Mai on the same day, making it ideal for those who don’t have much time to visit Chiang Rai. Along the way, you’ll make stops at three fascinating destinations. First up is the iconic Wat Rong Khun or White Temple—a modern, unconventional Lanna Thai-style temple designed and rebuilt by Chalermchai Kositpipat, a local artist from Chiang Rai. Its striking features include its gleaming white exterior adorned with sparkling reflective mosaic mirrors set within the white plaster. This temple was conceived by Mr. Chalermchai Kositpipat, one of Thailand’s most celebrated artists, who aimed to create an all-white structure symbolizing the purity of Lord Buddha. His work reflects both personal artistic vision and a deep commitment to enriching Buddhist culture in Thailand through innovative designs.
The second highlight of this full-day excursion is the Baan Dam Museum, known locally as the "Black Museum." It showcases various artifacts related to traditional Northern Thai life, including ancient weapons, musical instruments, household items, and more. Lastly, we head over to the serene Blue Temple (Wat Rong Suea Ten), another masterpiece created by Chalermchai Kositpipat. Unlike the stark whiteness of the previous two sites, here everything gleams in shades of blue due to intricate ceramic tiles covering every surface inside and outside the complex. As visitors walk around these tranquil grounds surrounded by lush greenery, they can appreciate not only the beauty but also feel connected spiritually amidst nature.
