In between high mountains lies the picturesque town of Siglufjorður or Siglo. We visit an award winning Herring Museum on the tour, where we get glimpse into local life during the early 20th century. The tour begins with a visit to a former herring village, Hjalteyri. A visit there is like stepping back over 50 years in time. We visit the locals at Vellir food market and local farm. Then we head to Siglufjordur and visit the Herring museum. Afterwards you will have free time to explore the village or enjoy refreshments in a local bakery before we head back to Akureyri.
